Cupcake Day For The SPCA
Monday 24 August saw people from all over New Zealand channelling their inner chef and baking a mountain of cupcakes for the SPCA’s annual Cupcake Day fund-raiser.
Here at the Sysmex office, we were incredibly lucky to have a large number of volunteer bakers who spent their weekend baking up a storm. Monday’s morning tea offered a vast array of treats, including cupcakes decorated with paw prints, poodle-shaped Welsh cakes, quiches and slices and Sysmex staff bravely sacrificed their waistlines in support of this great cause.
In keeping with the spirit of the day, Sysmex New Zealand’s Finance and Administration Manager, Helen Thompson, kindly donated fresh, free-range eggs from her hens for the bakers to use in their baking endeavours.
Held every year, the SPCA Cupcake Day appeal encourages participants to bake and sell cupcakes to raise money in support of the organisation’s work fighting animal cruelty. Each year the SPCA provides care to over 60,000 injured, abandoned, neglected and abused animals across New Zealand – all of which is funded entirely from public donations.
