SPCA Winter Collection Drive
With less than one percent government funding, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in New Zealand must depend on the kindness of the public to continue their fantastic work rescuing, rehabilitating and re-housing thousands of animals in need every year.
Winter is a particularly difficult time for the SPCA as they can often run low on the equipment they need to look after the various animals at their animal centres.
As massive animal lovers, Sysmex New Zealand staff were eager to get behind a goods collection drive for the SPCA during the months of June and July. The response from the team was overwhelming with blankets, towels, pet food and toys galore. Especially as the week before the collection drive closed the SPCA put an urgent call out for goods as their shelves were bare.
We were also particularly lucky that Sysmex Application Specialist, Sandra Toppin, a regular volunteer at the Auckland SPCA animal centre, was able to help us bundle up all the donated gear for delivery to the SPCA.
